Simon Preferred to be called Spike, born June, 18th 1972 and raised in rural New South Wales Australia. After a motorbike accident at the age of 10 years occurred on the family farm on Sunday, 8th May 1983 (Mothers Day) that left me incomplete paraplegic. At the age of 16 finished year 10 and traveled to Sydney in 1989 to study Architecture, after a year came back home after spending months in hospital of ill health and rehabilitation.

When I arrived back home to my hometown, I decided to go back to school at the age of 19 to complete years 11 and 12. Made the most amazing friends during my high school years, and one amazing best friend, and after 18 years have reunited with her and are still best of friends. After HSC graduation 1992, completed TAFE diploma in Information Technology.

Growing up with a disability was hard but I have never let my disability get the better of me. I found it hard to find suitable work as being in a small town was not a lot of work for people with disabilities and was discriminated against by most local businesses from my physical disabilities. In 1998, I approached a local poultry business Bartter Enterprises, which offered me work as technical support, whilst completing a Bachelor of Information Technology. After 9 years and completing my degree, I started my own small business Spike Industries in computer hardware sales, servicing, to software installations and support. After acquiring two 3D printers in 2019, have added 3D printing and modelling to the business. I have skill sets as technical solutions analyst, architectural design, 3D design and printing and after completing a welding fabrication certificate a welding fabrication trade.

I always keep busy, from technology consulting, design and 3D printing, to helping my parents manage self-storage units.

I have always enjoyed sports at a young age of 8 years old racing motorbikes to playing Wheelchair tennis, basketball, and rugby. In the early stages of my disability, I tried my hand at Archery, Pistol Shooting and wheelchair skating. My favourite team is South Sydney Rabbitohs.

In my spare time I like to sketch, fly drones, aerial photograph, learn new technologies and play wheelchair basketball.

During the 2020 COVID pandemic and not able to do my sports, I kept busy by producing 3D printing and rearing chickens by two incubators I acquired, which have been growing chickens and providing free range eggs to family and friends.
